What is Among Us?

Among Us is a social deduction game where a group of crewmates tries to complete tasks on a spaceship while one (or more) impostors secretly hunt them down. The crew wins by finishing all their tasks or voting out every impostor. The impostor wins by eliminating enough crewmates that the numbers are even. Sounds simple, but the mind games are what make this game legendary.

Every match is a mix of busywork and paranoia. You're trying to wire panels and swipe cards while also watching everyone else for suspicious behavior. Did that person just walk away from a body? Were they standing in the same spot for way too long? Or are you being framed? The discussion phase after a body is reported is where the real game happens — accusations, defenses, fake alibis, and the occasional masterclass in deception.

How to Play Among Us

As a Crewmate

• WASD or Arrow keys: Move around the map
• E: Interact with objects and complete tasks
• R: Report a dead body when you find one
• Space or the meeting button: Call an emergency meeting (limited uses)

Your job is to complete all your assigned tasks (shown in the top left) and help identify the impostor. Tasks range from simple (swiping a card, pressing a button) to multi-step (uploading data from one room to another). Stay alert, watch for suspicious activity, and don't wander off alone if you can help it.

As an Impostor

• WASD or Arrow keys: Move around the map
• Q: Use vents to quickly travel between rooms (impostor only)
• Space: Sabotage ship systems to create chaos
• E or click: Kill a nearby crewmate (has a cooldown)

As the impostor, you need to blend in. Fake tasks, participate in discussions, and build credible alibis. Vents let you move between rooms instantly, but if someone sees you hop in or out, you're done. Sabotage is your best tool for splitting up groups and creating opportunities — kill the lights and nobody can see anything, or trigger a reactor meltdown to force everyone away from bodies.

Discussion and Voting

This is the heart of the game. After a body is reported or an emergency meeting is called, everyone gets to discuss who they think the impostor is. Pay attention to:

• Who was where. If someone claims they were in electrical but two other people never saw them there, that's suspicious.
• Who's being vague. Impostors often can't give specific details about what tasks they were doing because they weren't actually doing any.
• Who's accusing aggressively. Sometimes the loudest accuser is the impostor trying to deflect attention.

After discussion, everyone votes. The person with the most votes gets ejected — and the game reveals whether they were actually the impostor or not.

Tips for Winning

• As crewmate: Stick with at least one other person. Solo crewmates are easy kills. If someone follows you into a room alone and closes the door, you're probably about to die.
• As crewmate: Complete visual tasks in front of others. Tasks like the medbay scan or weapons asteroid clear are visible to other players. Doing these in front of witnesses proves you're not the impostor.
• As impostor: Don't be too eager to vote. Crewmates who immediately jump on an accusation without explanation look suspicious themselves.
• As impostor: Use sabotage wisely. Locking doors before a kill buys you time. Sabotaging communications prevents the admin map from working, which hides your movements.
• For everyone: Watch the admin table and security cameras. They're not foolproof, but they can give you real information about where people are (and aren't).
